Can your plant survive a dumpster diving inspection or a plant inspection by your local CUPA, DTSC, or the U.S. EPA?

About This Training…

This comprehensive 3-hour online training session, conducted in real-time via Zoom, is specifically designed for California generators to ensure they are well-versed in the latest regulatory requirements. Participants will gain insights into the newly implemented Generator Improvements Rule (GIR) regulations and effective strategies for compliance and enforcement avoidance. The session will also address the essential annual training obligations for employees, equipping attendees with the knowledge and tools necessary to successfully navigate these requirements. Join us for this informative training to enhance your understanding and ensure your organization remains compliant with state regulations.

This training covers basic initial and refresher training content with special emphasis on new Title 22 GIR requirements now in effect:

  • Regulated waste and characterization, RCRA, Non-RCRA, Acute, and Extremely Hazardous Waste;
  • Generator size classification as determined by any month’s generation;
  • Satellite Area Accumulation rules;
  • Physical management of on-site hazardous waste for SQGs and LQGs;
  • Universal waste management identification and management;
  • Administrative requirements, including HWSR, Biennial Generator Report, and hazardous waste treatment permitting;
  • GIR analysis and implementation strategies; and
  • Enforcement trends, including changes in penalty assessment and environmental justice adjustments.

Consequences of Untrained HazMat Employees…

  • Hazardous waste classification mistakes and generator size miscalculations will be serious offenses under GIR.
  • California hazardous waste regulations are significantly different and more complicated than federal RCRA regulations.
  • Relatively minor offenses are subject to onerous EPA, state, and local enforcement.

Do You Know…

  • Your plant’s hazardous waste status (RCRA, non-RCRA, non-hazardous) and its generator status (LQG, SQG, CESQG)?
  • Point-of-generation, satellite accumulation, and storage area hazardous waste requirements?
  • What wastes can be legally discharged to the sewer system?
  • If hazardous wastes are being treated, and if this treatment requires a permit or other regulatory obligations?
  • If employees are being properly trained to handle hazardous wastes, sign manifests, etc.?
  • Whether you are getting the best deals in waste management?

If you answered no or are unsure about your answers, this training is a must-attend!
